An architectural visualization project of an existing building.
My main task for this project involved rigging. The birds are the main characters and are always on the screen, so the quality had to be top-notch. I wanted to give the animator a high level of control with a minimum amount of controls.
Especially a lot of time and effort has been put into the wings. All the feathers have 2 bones to allow for fanning out and bending up and down. there are 5 controls at the tip and 5 controls halfway through the wings for controlling the shape. However, in a seperate layer there are also individual controls for every feather in case the animator needs to fine tune something.
All the bones for the feathers are bound to a spline IK that has a hair modifier so we can simulate drag and wind on top of the created animation.
